Find the answers to your most regularly asked questions about fuel deliveries

Just as no two of our customers are the same, no two deliveries are the same either. That’s why we’ve put together all of your most frequently asked questions about our deliveries, so you know what you need to do before you order and what to expect when your fuel arrives!

What happens during a fuel delivery?

During a typical delivery, our tanker will arrive at your home/site and will park in a safe spot as near to your fuel tank as possible. Once our driver has checked for hazards and has accessed your tank, your fuel will be dispensed via an extendable hose. You’ll be asked to sign for the delivery (if it’s an attended delivery), and you’ll receive a receipt once it’s complete. The receipt will detail the type and amount of fuel dispensed, then our tanker will depart your site.

I live in a remote location, can you still make my oil delivery?

Yes, most of our fuels and oils are available nationwide. Our supply depots are spread across the whole of the UK, meaning we can make deliveries to even the most remote businesses. Plus, our baby tankers and emergency response vehicles are perfectly equipped to navigate country roads and sites with difficult access. Some geographical restrictions apply for domestic deliveries. Please contact us to find out whether we can deliver to your location.

Can you make unattended fuel deliveries?

Yes, as long as we can easily and safely access your oil storage tank we should be able to deliver your order without the need for you to be there. Please make sure you let your account manager know when placing the order.

What is the minimum fuel oil delivery?

The smallest quantity our tankers can deliver is 500 litres. We can also supply fuels and oils in 205-litre barrels if you need a lower quantity, or if you don’t have storage onsite.

How long are the hoses on your tankers?

Most of our tankers are equipped with 175-foot (53 metre) hose reels, though our smaller tankers are fitted with 200-foot (60 metre) hoses so they’re able to reach hard-to-access storage tanks.

Our articulated and GP tankers are equipped with a 40-foot (12 metre) bulk hose, which can also be extended as required.

Do you offer heating oil for next day delivery?

Yes! Our business customers can take advantage of our emergency fuel delivery service, which delivers fuel on a same or next-day basis. In most cases we can deliver your fuel within two days of placing your order, but this cannot always be guaranteed.

Please discuss your requirements with your account manager and we will do our best to get your heating oil delivered as quickly as possible.

Do you offer additional support after the delivery?

Yes! In addition to your dedicated account manager, you’ll have access to our team of experienced and knowledgeable fuel technicians who can provide expert support. We also have a range of fuel services that has been designed to cater to all the needs of our commercial and domestic fuel users.

Do you offer an automated top up service?

Yes! To ensure you never run out of oil, we’ve invested in an automated tank top-up system that will take the worry out of ordering fuel. The simple system works via a probe in your tank that contacts us when your oil levels get down to an agreed level, enabling your dedicated account manager to organise your next delivery. You can find out more on our fuel tank telemetry page.

What size of tankers do you have?

We have a wide range of fuel delivery vehicles, including:

  • Articulated tankers with a capacity of 36,000 litres
  • GP fuel tankers with a capacity of 35,000 litres
  • 8-wheel fuel tankers with a 23,000 litre capacity
  • 6-wheel fuel tankers with an 18,000 litre capacity
  • Small tankers with a 12,500 lire capacity
  • Baby tankers with a capacity of 8,000 litres
  • Emergency response vehicle with a capacity of 900 litres

We also have a number of other transport vehicles including vans and wagons to transport barrels and IBCs.

Where do you deliver fuel?

The vast majority of our fuels and lubricants are available for delivery nationwide, but there may be occasional restrictions due to circumstances beyond our control. To find out if we deliver to your area, simply give us a call on 0330 123 3773 and a member of our team will be able to help.

Can you guarantee a delivery time?

We can arrange a morning or afternoon slot for your delivery when you order, but we aren’t able to guarantee a specific delivery time as there are a number of factors that can affect your delivery which sit outside of our control.

It’s our aim to complete all deliveries made within 24-48 hours via our standard delivery service. If you’re in a remote location or if it’s a particularly busy period it may take a little longer, but your account manager will keep you updated throughout the process.

If you need your fuel on a same or next-day basis, we also offer an emergency fuel delivery service that’s available 24/7.

I’m based in a remote or hard to reach location, will you be able to get to me?

Our fleet of tankers includes a number of smaller delivery vehicles, which gives us the ability to access even the most difficult to reach locations. However, you should let us know about any access restrictions when you order so we can dispatch the right-sized tanker for your location.

How long will the delivery take?

The time it takes to complete your delivery depends on how accessible your fuel tank is and the quantity of fuel that’s being delivered. Rest assured that our delivery drivers are fully trained and experienced, and will provide a quick, safe and efficient service.

How can I let the driver know of any specific delivery requests, such as who to call upon arrival, or which entrance to use?

Your account manager will ask you about any specifics that we need to be aware of in order to complete your delivery. They will log these requirements on our internal system and communicate them to your allocated driver, which means that we can plan your delivery so it runs smoothly.

Are Speedy Fuels deliveries environmentally friendly?

All of our tankers run on Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO), a renewable diesel alternative which cut up to 90% of net CO2 emissions compared to DERV. We then offset the remaining emissions from our delivery mileage at no additional cost to our customers.
